This was the first type of Diamondbacks hat I was aware of. It just didn’t really fit, since the teal was more an accent color for those teams, and as I recall the uniform didn’t change any to match that, so it looked kind of mishmashed and weird, which is why it ranks low, but it doesn’t need to be forgotten to history. My dad bought one of these hats, fo some reason. You’ll notice that the “A” is purple, something that doesn’t show up in any other hats. It’s basically a palette swap of the main D-Backs hat of the time. ![]() This was a hat that was worn for one maybe a few more games in the 1998 season. Also helmets have widely varied as well, but to keep everything simple I kept it to just hats worn while fielding. *This is not counting hats that are camouflaged or stars and striped for major holidays or other promotional one-off gimmicks. These rankings are authoritative and just and not at all capricious and about my individual tastes. Today, we’ll be looking at the 11* in-game hats the Diamondbacks have worn since 1998, and I will rank them from worst to best. ![]() This wasn’t a thing that began with this new generation of unis in 2016, but has been going since the franchise’s inception. If there’s one hallmark of the franchise that I, personally, am obsessed with, it’s their tendency to wear many different types of uniforms. The Diamondbacks are now 20 years old in “actually playing games” age.
